Charlie Bennell: LIMINAL SPACES

Charlie Bennell Australian, (B.1999)

PIERMARQ* Projects is proud to present upcoming exhibition 'Liminal Spaces' by Sydney-based artist, Charlie Bennell. The exhibition will run from 25 May - 11 June 2023.

Charlie Bennell's most recent body of work, 'Liminal Spaces', reflects her continued interest in the interplay between the built environment and the human mind. Each of the nine paintings in the series is a study of liminal spaces, those transitional intervals that exist between different states of being. Doorways, staircases, and pathways are all motifs that appear throughout the series, symbolising transience and the threshold between one experience to another- places where we can find renewal. Influenced by architects such as Richard England, Madeline Gins and Shusaku Arakawa, Bennell invites us into a utopian world where architecture, colour, and light intertwine to create a sense of otherworldliness.

Charlie Bennell is an alumna of UNSW Art and Design, Sydney and Parsons School of Design,

New York (Travel Scholarship), graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 2020. She has

exhibited across Sydney, Melbourne and New York.

Opening Reception: Thursday 25 May, 6-8PM
