PIERMARQ* is pleased to present Slow the Leaf Falls, an exhibition of new work by Australian artist, Maximilian Daniels. This is Daniels’ sixth exhibition with PIERMARQ*in Sydney.

Daniels' practice explores the processes and materiality of painting. With a focus on observation, repetition, and technique through a slow layering of pigments and wax, the artist investigates intricacy of colour mixing, the meticulous layering of surfaces, and the intentional and spontaneous application of gestural marks.  His nuanced approach employs a reductive process to uncover hidden layers and texture beneath the surface. Through the application and removal of media, Daniels' deliberate actions preserve elements of the underlying composition, creating a sense of depth and revealing the rich layers and textures that lie beneath the surface.

Maximilian Daniels (b. 1991) lives and works in Sydney, NSW.
