Tear Drop or Tidal Wave: curated by Jordy Kerwick

12 - 26 June 2025

PIERMARQ* is pleased to present: Tear Drop or Tidal Wave, a group exhibition curated by Australian artist, Jordy Kerwick. Opening on 12 June, the exhibition celebrates the diverse and unapologetic voices of international contemporary artists who march to the beat of their own drums—each embracing their own unique creative vision and methodology.

Tear Drop or Tidal Wave is a reflection of contrasting forces in art: the subtle, emotional impact of a teardrop, and the overwhelming, all-encompassing force of a tidal wave. This duality represents the varied approaches and personal journeys of the artists involved, who challenge convention and create work that is deeply authentic and individual.

The exhibition will showcase the work of seven artists: Gabrielle Dunayski, Monica Kim Garza, Adam Laurence Hedley, Jordy Kerwick, Lucienne O'Mara, Ryan Schneider and Søren Sejr. Each artist embodies the ethos of fearlessly doing things their way. The work included in the exhibition spans a variety of mediums and styles, from abstract painting to sculpture, and mixed media, offering a rich tapestry of artistic expression.

As Kerwick explains, Tear Drop or Tidal Wave is “A nod to artists marching to the beat of their own drums—doing things their way.” The exhibition aims to highlight each artist's sense of individuality, and the unique and diverse ways they approach their craft, embracing the beauty in difference and defiance.
