PIERMARQ* returns to Untitled Art Miami Beach this December with an ambitious presentation bringing together five distinctive contemporary artists whose practices span painting, sculpture, figuration and abstraction.
Occupying an expanded 400-square-foot booth, the presentation reflects the gallery’s commitment to championing compelling artistic voices from Australia and abroad, bringing together established practices and new perspectives in a dynamic exchange of material, image and imagination.
Central to the presentation is the highly anticipated debut of new paintings and sculptures by Spanish artist Nacho Eterno. Occupying approximately half the booth, Eterno introduces audiences to a richly imaginative world where surrealism, symbolism and irreverent humour converge, exploring the boundaries between the familiar and the fantastical.
Canadian artist Andy Dixon returns with his unmistakable visual language, employing vibrant colour and art-historical references to interrogate luxury, taste and cultural value. American painter Ben Crase presents a highly anticipated selection of new works, extending his celebrated exploration of introspection, humour and the psychologically charged figure.
British painter Xavier Baxter contributes new works that navigate the territory between representation and abstraction, transforming familiar imagery through unexpected juxtapositions and painterly invention. Completing the presentation, Australian sculptor Tom Keukenmeester introduces a compelling three-dimensional counterpoint, bringing an expressive material presence to the booth.
Together, these five artists embody the breadth and ambition of PIERMARQ*’s international programme. While distinct in their approaches, each shares an instinct for reimagining familiar visual languages and challenging conventional ways of seeing.
