Gabriele Herzog Swiss

Swiss artist Gabriele Herzog’s abstract paintings depict the harmonious balance between opposing elements and energies. The relationship between positive and negative space is explored through the contrast of subtle and bold application of paint creating elements of intense, dynamism and and areas of quiet, peace and neutrality.

Herzog’s minimalistic approach is evidenced by her lack of interference with her canvas. Her focus  is geometry, line, and colour with no attempt to represent an outside reality; the artist wants the viewer to respond only to what is in front of them. Using raw untreated canvas to express only the essential, she creates by taking away, rather than adding.

Herzog has refined her practice across seven years of academic training in Europe. She has been involved in a number of group shows and has widely exhibited in the international industry.
