Edward Willes is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Queensland, Australia. Willes’ practice is led through experimentation with the textile medium, to create abstract, geometrical figures.
The artist’s compositions are influenced by art historical movements and the German abstract expressionists such as Ludwig Kirchner and Erich Heckel. Willes transcends the conventions and composition of these styles through the introduction of more explorative and experimental mediums, merging textiles with portraiture.
Willes studied at the Queensland College of Art in Brisbane and has since exhibited in Australia and Denmark.
